The Limpertsberg district is one of 24 districts in the city of Luxembourg. Limpertsberg is adjacent to Mühlenbach, Eich, Ville-Haute, Rollingergrund and Kirchberg via the Pont Rouge.

Limpertsberg is one of Luxembourg City's most popular districts. It is appreciated for its elegance, residential atmosphere and proximity to the city center. It combines magnificent bourgeois houses, modern buildings and numerous green spaces. Together, they offer a pleasant, family-friendly living environment that attracts many expatriate executives to Luxembourg.

The district is also an educational hub, home to several prestigious schools and the former faculty of the University of Luxembourg. Well served by the tramway, it remains an area where real estate is highly sought-after, with high prices. Despite its quiet location, it boasts a varied cultural and gastronomic offering, reinforcing its appeal.

Highly populated yet quiet, the Limpertsberg district is primarily inhabited by families with children. It's very popular with expatriates of European origin, thanks to its easy access to the city center, proximity to the Kirchberg business district and numerous amenities.

Conveniences in Limpertsberg, a popular district of Luxembourg

A mixed-use neighborhood, Limpertsberg is a highly residential area. With its local shops, bars and restaurants, schools, green spaces and 30km/h streets, it offers many advantages for its residents. Numerous service companies and self-employed professionals have also settled here.

Schools in the Limpertsberg district of Luxembourg

Several Luxembourg primary and secondary schools are located on Limpertsberg.

The Lycée Michel Lucius and its basic school will move to the "op der Schleed" site in the Kuebebierg district of Kirchberg in 2028. The Waldorfschoul will also move to Kirchberg.

For the time being, the Lycée Technique du Centre is equipped with new extensions, including a sports hall and a new catering hall designed with eco-responsibility in mind. These facilities will remain operational after the planned move to the new "Midfield" district in Howald, close to the Lycée Vauban.

To reduce traffic in the district, more than 5,000 schoolchildren and students are to move out of the area by 2025. The aim is to make Limpertsberg a car-free district.

The land vacated by the various schools would be reused for the construction of new housing. This could meet, at least in part, the high demand for real estate in Luxembourg.

Transport / Bus in the Limpertsberg district

The district has excellent transport links . The district is the subject of a project run by the City of Luxembourg called "Vivre sans voiture" ("Living without a car").

Bus routes 4, 12, 19, 30, CN1, CN2, CN4 serve the district with 41 bus stops. The Aerobus and many other lines leave from the Pescatore stop, adjacent to the Glacis parking lot.
The City Shopping Bus makes it easy to shop in the city center from the Glacis parking lot.

The Place du Glacis is a large open-air public parking lot, offering ample parking alongside the Schuman parking lot.

The tramway runs from Champ du Glacis to Luxexpo and the main station.

Several Veloh! stations are available to local residents.

Residents find the area difficult for pedestrians and cyclists. They would like to see dedicated lanes and improved street lighting.

Leisure and recreation in the Limpertsberg district

The district boasts many green spaces. With the Parc Tony Neuman, the Parc Georges Willmar and the nearby Kinnekswiss, families have plenty of places to relax .

The Klammen a Sprangen playground in Rue de l'Avenir offers ropes, zip lines and nets for climbers aged 0 to 12. The playground also features sandboxes and swings for the less adventurous.

The Limpertsberg also boasts numerous cafés and restaurants.

Limpertsberg is also home to the famous Schueberfouer on the Glacis parking lot in August and September, much to everyone's delight. Luxembourg Art Week also takes place in the district.

There are also gyms, petanque courts and other sports facilities.

The district is also characterized by its cultural richness. It includes not only the Grand Théâtre, but also the Utopia cinema. These two establishments offer a program that's as cutting-edge as it is varied.

The Halle Victor Hugo regularly hosts a wide range of events and contributes to the liveliness of the neighborhood.

The famous Glacismaart takes place every 3rd Sunday of the month on the Parking du Glacis, except during the Schueberfouer period.

Our opinion of living in Limperstberg

Covering an area of 2 km2, Limpertsberg welcomes families in a chic, classic family setting. With its beautiful Antique houses, it offers a pleasant setting for families, close to everything . Very sunny, Limpertsberg is situated on a plateau.

We recommend Limperstberg if you want to stay close to the center and have easy access on foot or by bike.

We particularly like :

• the peace and quiet of this chic residential neighbourhood
• Enjoy pleasant family walks. Take a look at walking trails such as the Rose Trail or the Vauban Trail.

The Limpertsberg Syndicate ("Lampertsbierger Syndicat") is planning to build a footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists. This 350-metre-long footbridge over the Villeroy & Boch industrial site would link Limpertsberg and Bambësch.
