Swimming pools: true relaxation centers in Luxembourg

Do you love the water? Do you want to swim laps in the pool with a friend, splash around with your kids, or enjoy the benefits of the spas? In Luxembourg, swimming pools are generally very well-equipped. They offer many facilities designed for relaxation.

Some pools feature an outdoor pool, in addition to the indoor pool, which is ideal in the summer. Lawns allow you to spend entire days in the best conditions and perfect your tan.

You’ll also find saunas and/or steam rooms, hot tubs, and more. Please note that nudity is often required in these areas. Be sure to bring a towel large enough to cover yourself.

In addition, large water slides are available for children as well as adults.

Each aquatic center offers on-site diningoptions and the ability tohost birthday parties for your children.

Looking for a swimming pool? Here are a few places:

D’Coque Sports and Recreation Center in the Kirchberg neighborhood

D’Coque is a favorite spot for elite athletes. Sports federations and schools come here to train regularly. Families can also have a great time here.

At d’Coque in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, you’ll find :

  • an Olympic-sized competition pool,
  • a diving tower
  • saunas, a steam room, a whirlpool, …
  • and other sports facilities for all skill levels.

You can also take swimming lessons or participate in aqua-gym classes.

This is where Euromeet, an international swimming competition, takes place every year.

Badanstalt Aquatic Relaxation Center in downtown Luxembourg

The Badanstalt is the facility that houses the former municipal baths of the City of Luxembourg. This pool has retained its old-world charm from its past. Nevertheless, today it offers all the modern amenities of a swimming pool and an aquatic relaxation center.

Located right in the city center, in the Luxembourg-Centre district , you’ll find:

  • a swimming pool
  • water jets
  • whirlpools
  • an aquatic circuit similar to those found in thalassotherapy centers
  • saunas
  • a steam room
  • shower baths
  • bathtubs
  • a solarium
  • a fitness room.

You can also enjoy massages.

Municipal swimming pools in the city of Luxembourg

Luxembourg-Merl / Belair Municipal Swimming Pool

The Luxembourg-Belair municipal swimming pool features a large L-shaped swimming pool. The larger section is reserved for experienced swimmers. The smaller, shallower section is intended for beginners.

Luxembourg-Bonnevoie Municipal Pool

This large pool located in the Bonnevoie neighborhood offers modern facilities with two pools of varying depths. An introductory diving session was offered to visitors at the 2024 Urban History Festival in Bonnevoie.

A weight room, sauna, solarium, steam room, and cafeteria round out the facilities. Swimming lessons are available.

The City of Luxembourg’s municipal swimming pools are closed on public holidays.

Luxembourg-Cents Municipal Pool

In the Cents neighborhood, the school pool has just opened its doors to the public on weekends. It features two pools.

This pool is primarily used for training competitive swimmers.

The Strassen Thermal Baths

The Strassen Thermal Baths are one of Luxembourg’s most famous facilities. You’ll find a large semi-Olympic pool there, ideal for swimming and doing laps. A second teaching pool allows children to learn to swim.

The little ones can enjoy the wading pool.

A wave pool, a bubble pool, and an outdoor pool offer a variety of aquatic fun, regardless of the season or weather.

Plus, two slides—30 and 80 meters long—are a hit with kids and make for great outings with friends!

The Wellness area features several indoor and outdoor cabins with various types of saunas and different atmospheres.

The thermal baths are located between Strassen and the town of Bertrange.

PIDAL in Walferdange, Steinsel, and Lorentzweiler.

Located in Walferdange, the PIDAL leisure center features a pool complex with several swimming pools.

The wellness area features a spa with saunas and a relaxing seawater pool, fitness classes, and a restaurant. The large lawn is a real highlight in the summer.

Kordall Swimming Pool in Rodange, PIKO

The Kordall or PIKO swimming pool, in southern Luxembourg, features an Olympic-sized pool, which is quite rare in Luxembourg.

Toddlers can splash around in a large wading pool.

PIKO is also a water and relaxation center offering numerous activities such as aquagym, aquafitness, and aquabikes outside of school holidays.

An 80-meter-long slide and various facilities are located within the complex.

For relaxation, two Finnish saunas, a Turkish bath, and hot tubs await visitors. An outdoor lawn offers a place to relax in the sun.

The unique feature of the Rodange pool, or PiKo, is that it can be fully opened to the outdoors. As soon as the weather turns nice, it’s the perfect spot for a day or an afternoon with the family!

An der Schwemm in Bettembourg

An der Schwemm features a swimming pool with three pools and a wellness center.

A small pool with a slide is designed for children, a teaching pool with a waterfall, and a large pool is reserved for lap swimming and swimming lessons. There is also a 40-meter slide.

The wellness area features four different saunas, including two Finnish saunas with light therapy, a steam room, an immersion pool, and a Kneipp pool (cold water pool). There is also a solarium in the wellness area.

Syrdall Schwemm Aquatic Center in Niederanven

The Syrdall Schwemm in Niederanven is a relaxation and recreation center for the whole family. The pool area features four pools.

The outdoor pool is open year-round and features a whirlpool and jet beds. The 65-meter slide is a hit with kids and adults alike.

The beauty and spa area offers:

  • massages
  • an indoor Finnish sauna (exclusively for women on Wednesdays) and an outdoor sauna
  • a Turkish bath or hammam, and a bio sauna.

A plunge pool, specialty showers, an outdoor terrace, and an indoor relaxation room round out the facilities.

Krounebierg Sports Center in Mersch

Krounebierg features a swimming pool with pools and water play areas for the whole family, a wellness center, a fitness area, and outdoor access.

The swimming pool features a movable floor and a diving tower.

A relaxation pool is also available, as well as a wading pool for little ones with water features. A giant slide rounds out the facilities.

In the wellness area, you’ll find:

  • hot whirlpool pools
  • 4 saunas, 3 of which are outdoor.
  • an infrared cabin
  • a steam room
  • adventure showers
  • A cold plunge pool
  • a steam bath
  • a solarium.

A superb terrace offers a beautiful view of the valley.

Aquasud Oberkorn in Differdange

Aquasud is a large aquatic complex featuring 6 pools, including a 25-meter pool, 2 outdoor pools, a recreational pool, and a wading pool.

Special programs are also available for young children, including water familiarization and a water play area.

The complex also features a fitness area with 3 gyms and 5 saunas, including 2 outdoor saunas (for ages 18 and up).

In the wellness area, visitors can find five saunas—two of which are outdoor—a steam room, a cold plunge pool, and a jacuzzi. Accessible to those 18 and older. Treatment area.

Escher Schwemm Center in Esch-sur-Alzette

This aquatic complex, located in Esch-sur-Alzette, consists of a swimming pool with swimming lessons and a wellness center.

The aquatic complex features four pools, including an outdoor pool with water jets and massage benches, a children’s wading pool with water games, and a large 40-meter slide.

The wellness area offers:

  • a Finnish sauna and a bio sauna
  • 2 infrared cabins at 40 degrees
  • a hammam or Turkish bath
  • a cold and hot water pool
  • relaxation areas
  • a solarium.

Ask on-site about swimming lessons and group fitness classes.

Swimming in Luxembourg in the Summer

Several swimming pools open their doors or outdoor areas during the summer. Everyone can relax outdoors on large lawns—perfect for working on your tan or playing outside while cooling off.

Swimming pools and water parks near Luxembourg

A favorite among everyone, the “Les Thermes à Strassen” Aquatic Center is a must-visit, as is the Syrdall Schwemm pool in Niederanven with its large outdoor area.

In the summer, you can relax with your family and have a picnic on the huge outdoor lawn, while enjoying the outdoor pool with its relaxation and entertainment facilities!

The Hesperange Municipal Park offers a space for summer relaxation with the Hesper Beach Club. It features a children’s pool, a snack bar and restaurant, a pétanque court, and even a beach volleyball court!

A little further away, the Krounebierg Aquatic Center in Mersch offers an outdoor playground, as well as a large lawn perfect for relaxing and sunbathing. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a volleyball court. Outdoor showers and changing rooms are available.

Outdoor aquatic centers in the regions of Luxembourg

Want to take advantage of the nice weather to explore a bit of Luxembourg while cooling off?

Eastern Luxembourg offers several options. The town of Remich features a large outdoor pool with three pools and a wading pool for all ages. Grevenmacher, near the German border, and Beaufort also offer outdoor pools.

In the south, check out the Dudelange outdoor pool with its various outdoor play areas, open from late May to early September. These are great additions to the facilities at the Bains du Parc in Esch-sur-Alzette or the Kordall Pool in Rodange.

Heading north, don’t miss the open-air beach behind the Diekirch pool, open from mid-July to mid-August. It features various activities, including beach volleyball and a bouncy castle. The Redange-sur-Attert pool also offers an outdoor area.

Further afield, Troisvierge features a magnificent outdoor pool with large water play facilities, including a giant slide, water games, and massage jets. Vianden is no exception, boasting a large, fully renovated outdoor pool with a giant slide and lawns to welcome visitors in the heart of the Luxembourg Ardennes.

As for Hosingen Park, it features the massive AquaNat’Our aquatic center, spanning over 3,500 m² of relaxation facilities, and most notably an outdoor swimming pond open in the summer.

Public beaches in natural settings in Luxembourg

Do you enjoy swimming in natural settings? Luxembourg offers the opportunity to swim in lakes or ponds during the summer season. This runs from May 1 through September 30.

Several sites offer public beaches. Water quality at these locations is regularly monitored. In the event of al , swimming may be prohibited. Please check in advance.

Swimming in Lake Haute-Sûre

Lake Haute-Sûre in Boulaide is part of the Haute-Sûre Nature Reserve. It is therefore moreimportant than ever to respect the environment, particularly regarding barbecuing and dog access to the areas. Unsupervised swimming in the Sûre River

The Sûre River, which flows into the lake of the same name, also offers swimming areas, specifically near the Rosport campground. Please note, however, that these swimming areas are unsupervised.

Water sports on the Weiswampach artificial lakes

The Weiswampach artificial lakes are an integral part of the recreational center located in the town of Weiswampach. You can enjoy water sports there, such as stand-up paddleboarding or wakeboarding.

Swimming in the Remerschen ponds

The Remerschen pond in the municipality of Remerschen in the southeast of the country also offers the opportunity to swim in a natural setting in the Baggerweier area.

In addition to swimming, visitors can also go paddleboarding or row a boat there.

Lake Echternach and Water Activities

Lake Echternach offers not only swimming in a designated area but also playgrounds for children and fitness areas for parents. On sunnydays , nearly 11,000 people visit Lake Echternach. Access may be restricted if the crowd becomes too large.

Mondorf-les-Bains Thermal Spa in Luxembourg

A spa center for relaxation and wellness

The Mondorf-les-Bains Thermal Center is one of our favorite places to relax and recharge. Experience the benefits of thermal water heated to 36 degrees Celsius!

The Mondorf Thermal Center is a true haven for relaxation, rejuvenation, and wellness.

The Mondorfer saltwater spring has been used for thermal treatments since 1847. A wide range of services is available: thermal cures, medical rehabilitation, beauty treatments, massages, and spa services in the Wellness Area.

In both summer and winter, you can enjoy the many indoor and outdoor areas with jet pools. Children under 16 are only allowed in the thermal pool on Level 0. The other areas are reserved for adults.

The 40-hectare park is a very pleasant place to take a walk or go rowing or paddleboating on the lake. It also features Easy Golf, an 18-hole mini-golf course, and a giant chess set.

Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains: slot machines and gaming tables

Do you enjoy playing at the casino? In Mondorf, you’ll find a casino with slot machines, gaming tables, and two concert and performance halls.

Did you know that Casino 2000 in Mondorf-les-Bains is Luxembourg’s top tourist attraction? Spend an evening—or even a day—there to relax and have fun. You’ll find traditional games like Roulette and Blackjack, as well as slot machines. You can even stay for the weekend at the adjacent 4-star hotel.

In the same vein as the Mondorf-les-Bains Thermal Center in Luxembourg, you can relax nearby in France at the Thermes d’Amnéville and the adjacent Villa Pompéï.
