On June 4 and 5, 2028, the Bealtaine Festival returns to Neuhaeusgen (Neihaischen), in the municipality of Schuttrange, for another immersive edition celebrating Celtic culture and ancient traditions.
Held every two years over the Pentecost weekend, this event in the heart of nature attracts families as well as enthusiasts of history, folklore, and unique festivals in Luxembourg.
Located just a few kilometers from Luxembourg City, on the grounds of the Chalet des Lëtzebuerger Guiden a Scouten, the Bealtaine Celtic Festival offers a timeless escape in a particularly pleasant wooded setting.
Let’s hope that the 2028 edition will enjoy weather as ideal as that of the 2026 edition—with mild temperatures and sunny skies—perfect for enjoying the outdoor activities and performances throughout the weekend.
A Unique Celtic Festival in Luxembourg
Inspired by the ancient Celtic festival of Beltane, which celebrates the return of sunny days, Bealtaine immerses visitors in the world of the Celtic peoples through a lively and immersive program. The event centers around a reconstruction of a Celtic house at the Chalet Nicolas Rollinger in Neihaischen.
For two days, visitors of all ages can enjoy:
- traditional craft demonstrations,
- medieval performances and activities,
- interactive workshops for children and adults,
- musicians and bands inspired by Celtic traditions,
- costumed characters: druids, bards, blacksmiths, and artisans,
- activities centered on nature and life in the forest.
More than twenty activities and workshops are planned in the clearings and wooded areas surrounding the site. The musical atmosphere will be provided by pipe bands and folk groups from Luxembourg and the Greater Region.
If you enjoy medieval atmospheres, come to the medieval festival in Vianden. It’s a great opportunity to visit this impressive castle in a medieval setting.
An ideal outing for expats in Luxembourg
For expats who have recently settled in Luxembourg, Bealtaine offers an excellent opportunity to discover another side of the country, far from the usual tourist trails. This type of event also provides a better understanding of the cultural and historical influences present in the region.
The festival is particularly appealing to:
- families looking for unique weekend activities;
- history buffs and fans of historical reenactments;
- enthusiasts of Nordic and Celtic culture;
- nature lovers and fans of outdoor festivals;
- newcomers wishing to discover local traditions.
The atmosphere is friendly, intergenerational, and very welcoming, even for visitors who don’t speak Luxembourgish. Visual, musical, and artisanal activities allow visitors to fully enjoy the experience without any language barriers.
Food and a Festive Atmosphere
The festival also features several dining areas with a warm, rustic atmosphere. On the menu: spit-roasted meats, grilled dishes, tartes flambées, vegetarian options, and drinks inspired by Celtic culture, such as mead and select craft beers.
The entire site is designed to feel like a living medieval village, where visitors can move freely between performances, workshops, and relaxation areas.
