Luxembourg recruitment after Covid

A new working environment linked to the Covid crisis

In the midst of the Covid crisis, companies had to face a number of challenges to maintain their profits and ensure their continued development. While, overall, the Luxembourg labor market was able to cope with the unthinkable, it has nonetheless changed significantly since March 2020.

By adapting to the health context in order to protect their employees' health and continue their business, Luxembourg companies have initiated a major change in their human resources management and recruitment.

Against the uncertain backdrop of the health crisis, companies had to integrate new working methods. Telecommuting and managing dispersed teams were major challenges, which companies had to meet in record time. At the same time, they had to modify their sales channels and develop online sales.

This new working environment has taken different forms in different sectors and companies. New procedures have been put in place. Companies have acquired new IT tools. This has led to new skill requirements. Some had to call on new profiles.

Continued recruitment after Covid

Despite the crisis, almost 70% of companies continued to recruit, with almost half of these on permanent contracts. The IT and telecoms sectors, financial services (banking/insurance) and accounting were the most active in this area.

On the other hand, pay has remained stable in almost 90% of cases. Since the crisis, increases have remained fairly low, between 2.5% and 5% maximum.

Flexibility, a major criterion in the job search

In this unprecedented health context, remote working has developed strongly. All companies have had to adapt, at least for their administrative staff.

In fact, despite the end of the pandemic, flexibility is still very much in demand among employees. In concrete terms, telecommuting is now part of the working environment. Although companies are beginning to bring their employees back on site, some are still working remotely on a full-time basis.

In all cases, job applicants raise the issue of telecommuting right from the first recruitment interview. Telecommuting has become an integral part ofcorporate organization.

Today, this is an important benefit in kind, even if more and more companies are trying to get their employees to return to the company.

However, the end of 2022 and the year 2023 are marking time in the real estate sector. More than 600 real estate-related companies have recently closed their doors. See the latest real estate trends.
