Darkness Into Light against mental illness and suicide

Darkness Into Light is a solidarity walk launched in Ireland in 2009 by the Pieta House association.

Organized for the first time in 2019 with the support of the Irish Embassy in Luxembourg, Darkness Into Light Luxembourg is holding its 6th edition on May 11, 2024.

Designed to raise awareness of the problems associated with psychological suffering and suicide, Darkness Into Light starts at night, before sunrise. Participants then walk "from darkness to light".

Get involved to support people in mental distress

Today, over 200,000 people are walking together on the same day, in over 200 cities and 20 countries. Bereaved by the loss of a loved one to suicide, or sensitized to the cause, the marchers come together to give hope to those who suffer.

All united in the same thoughts, the walkers show those in pain that the light of dawn is coming, even after the darkest night.

Darkness Into Light Luxembourg

Darkness Into Light is brought to Luxembourg by a dedicated organizing team. The event is placed under the High Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess, and helps people in psychological distress.

There are now almost 500 walkers supporting each other through the city of Luxembourg. The walk starts at 5 a.m. at the Hall Omnisports in Clausen. Along the way, dialogue develops with the other participants. And it's a real treat to see the sun rise over the city of Luxembourg. On the way back, coffee and sweet refreshments await the walkers.

Profits are donated to associations involved in the fight against suicide. Profits from the Luxembourg edition go to SOS Détresse - Mir hëllefen iwwer Telefon an online asbl, dLigue and kannerjugendtelefon.
