A unique evening at Luxembourg’s museums
Every year, during Museum Night, Luxembourg’s museums open their doors free of charge to visitors, inviting them to discover the richness of the Grand Duchy’s heritage.
Organized by the museum collective “d’Stater Muséeën,” Museum Night is a unique event. This evening allows residents of Luxembourg, as well as expats and tourists, to enjoy an immersive experience in the country’s history and art.
Every year, more and more people come out to participate in the various activities: guided tours created specifically for the occasion, workshops for children or adults. The atmosphere is also particularly festive, with DJs and treats for musical and culinary entertainment.
Luxembourg Museum Night: Museums by Night
For the occasion, museums traditionally open their doors in the evening, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. For night owls, the Mudam, the Museum of Modern Art in Kirchberg, extends the festivities until 3 a.m.
Participating Museums
In 2025, seven museums in the city of Luxembourg participated in Museum Night, each making its own unique contribution to spark visitors’ curiosity:
- Mudam Luxembourg (Grand Duke Jean Museum of Modern Art): Mudam is the premier venue for contemporary art in Luxembourg, featuring modern and often interactive installations. During Museum Night, live performances and DJ sets will liven up the evening, offering visitors an experience that blends artistic discovery with celebration.
- Villa Vauban: This art museum houses an impressive collection of European paintings. For Museum Night, Villa Vauban will offer themed guided tours and creative workshops for all ages.
- Casino Luxembourg – Forum d'Art Contemporain: known for its avant-garde exhibitions, the Casino will transform into a venue for visual and audio performances, immersing visitors in artistic experiences.
- Lëtzebuerg City Museum: As the city’s museum, it showcases the history and evolution of Luxembourg. For Museum Night, special tours will allow visitors to rediscover the capital’s history through interactive storytelling and activities for all ages.
- National Museum of History and Art: This museum houses collections ranging from antiquity to modern art. Expect historical reenactments and demonstrations of traditional crafts.
- National Museum of Natural History: Also known as the Naturmusée, this museum focuses on biodiversity and the natural sciences. During Museum Night, it will offer science workshops and interactive exhibits for families.
- Dräi Eechelen Museum: Housed in a former fortress of the Vauban fortifications, this museum highlights Luxembourg’s military history. For Museum Night, it will offer nighttime tours of the fortifications as well as performances evoking key periods in the country’s history.
During a previous edition, Luxembourgish athletes stepped in as guides for the evening. They presented the public witha “favorite piece” in each of the seven participating museums in the City of Luxembourg.
We’re betting that this year, too, wonderful surprises await evening visitors, including musical tours, artistic performances, and workshops.
