Shopping malls

Whether you’re a shopping enthusiast or just running daily errands, Luxembourg has several beautiful shopping centers. Here are the most notable ones.

Easily accessible, these shopping centers are located on the outskirts of major cities. Luxembourg City, Esch-sur-Alzette, Differdange, Junglinster, and others offer modern and lively shopping centers.

Shopping Malls: All Your Shopping in One Place

The concept behind shopping malls is always the same: bringing all the stores you need for shopping and errands together in one place. However, each mall has its own unique atmosphere.

Also check the opening hours for each shopping center. Thesevary depending on the day and shopping events such as Mantelsonndeg, for example.

Feel free to visit several shopping centers. You ’ll quickly find your favorite(s) and make them your regular haunts.

Supermarkets in Luxembourg’s shopping centers

Shopping centers generally offer a large retail space for grocery shopping, but that’s not all…

The supermarkets and hypermarkets found in Luxembourg are owned by major retail groups from Luxembourg, France, Belgium, or Germany. You can shop there for groceries, beverages, hygiene products, and cleaning supplies.

Customers can also buy sporting goods, appliances, toys, clothing, shoes, and more. You can even find brand-name items there.

Shops and Additional Services in Shopping Malls

In addition to the big-box stores, numerous retail chains attract shopping enthusiasts to the shopping centers. You’ll find clothing, shoes, leather goods, furniture, beauty products, candy, and more.

Fashion enthusiasts can treat themselves in the many clothing stores within the shopping malls. Boutiques s for fashion, jewelry, leather goods, clothing, shoes, furniture, and more. The selection is extensive and varied.

Some shopping centers also feature multi-brand department stores. This is notably the case at City-Concorde in Bertrange, which houses Brahm, a Luxembourgish retailer. Another major multi-brand department store is Galeries Lafayette, a French retailer, located at the Hamilius Center in Luxembourg.

You can also find service shops in shopping centers, such as hair salons, beauty salons, shoe repair shops, and dry cleaners,

Some shopping centers offer additional services. You can have your children looked after while you shop, have your car washed by a valet service, or enjoy special events over the weekend.

The restaurants, cafés, and tea rooms in the shopping malls allow you to grab a bite to eat between stores or have lunch. These dining areas are usually packed at lunchtime with people working in the neighborhood.

How do you get to Luxembourg’s shopping centers?

You can reach the shopping centers by public transportation or easily park your car there.

Underground or adjacent parking lots are freely accessible to shopping center customers. All shopping centers offer a large parking lot, free for the first few hours for customers.

You can also use the shopping centers to drop off recyclable items, such as light bulbs, used batteries, etc.

Shopping Malls and Shopping in Luxembourg

Royal-Hamilius Shopping Center in the heart of downtown

Located in the heart of the capital, in the Ville-Haute district, the Royal Hamilius shopping center opened its doors in late 2019. Highly anticipated with its 16,000 m² of retail space, the Royal Hamilius actually resembles a neighborhood more than a traditional shopping center.

Apartments, shops, and a lively pedestrian plaza complete the complex. A beautiful project that has breathed new life into the neighborhood after years of construction.

At the entrance to the Grand-Rue, the main Galeries Lafayette building—part of the Royal Hamilius complex—is magnificent with its stunning architecture. Customers can dine at the panoramic restaurant with a terrace on the top floor of the building.

The Royal-Hamilius shopping center also features other key retailers such as:

  • Galeries Lafayette, a department store well-known to the French and Parisians, open on Sunday afternoons

Areas dedicated to rest and relaxation round out the offerings at the Cloche d’Or shopping center.
