UNI has more than thirty residence halls located throughout the country, near university campuses. It offers more than 1,000 housing units to its students.
The housing options are very diverse. A student can rent a 15-square-meter furnished room with shared or private kitchen and bathroom facilities for a lower rate. A single student can also rent a 24-square-meter studio apartment, while a couple can have access to housing up to 35 square meters.

Rates and Conditions for University Residences
The University of Luxembourg offers lease agreements ranging from 5 to 7 months. Lease extensions are possible upon re-enrollment at the university. However, the maximum stay cannot exceed the duration of studies.
Given the shortage of university housing and high demand (8,000 students at the university, 60% of whom are international), the maximum rental period is limited to the standard duration of studies:
- 36 months for a bachelor’s degree
- 24 months for a master’s degree
- 24 months for a Ph.D., even though the standard duration of a Ph.D. program is 48 months.
Rates are very reasonable, and the accommodations are furnished. Prices range from €400 to over €1,000 per month depending on the size of the unit. Rent includes various utilities, namely water, electricity, and heating. High-speed internet access is also included in the rent.
The student tenant must pay a security deposit before moving in, as is standard for any rental agreement. This deposit is equivalent to one month’s rent and must be paid by bank transfer. Additionally, a security deposit must be paid.
Home insurance is mandatory andmust be purchased from an insurance company licensed in Luxembourg. The University of Luxembourg offers comprehensive home insurance. This policy is valid for one year, from September to September. It covers various risks such as fire, water damage, glass breakage, and personal liability. Students can sign up directly online at Allia.lu.
Applications for university housing can be submitted online directly on the University of Luxembourg’s website. However, the application is not final until the student has paid the security deposit. Housing is allocated based on the applicant’s file by the Office of Academic Affairs and Student Life (SEVE).

The nonprofit organization operates four residences and houses across Luxembourg, ranging from 2 to 17 rooms. Each room is furnished and has internet access. Prices vary depending on location but are much more affordable than a standard furnished rental, ranging from 400 to 750 euros.
To secure a room in one of the service’s residences or houses, the intern must submit an application including:

- a cover letter,
- proof of identity,
