Automobile Club of Luxembourg (ACL): A Committed Advocate for Mobility

The ACL is an association and a community of 180,000 members dedicated to mobility in the broadest sense in Luxembourg. It ensures and promotes access to mobility, its quality, safety, and the freedom to choose one’s mode of transportation.

ACL Services in Luxembourg: 24/7 Assistance

The ACL’s mission is to provide 24/7 assistance and impartial, expert advice through comprehensive services designed to ensure mobility.

Whether it’s advice, assistance, or solutions related to electric or conventional mobility—private or company vehicles, as well as active and urban mobility or shared mobility—the ACL supports the development of sustainable personal mobility and multimodal concepts.

Helpdesk and International Network for Automotive Assistance

To provide the best possible assistance to newcomers to Luxembourg, and in addition to its traditional 24/7 roadside assistance, the ACL operates a helpdesk dedicated to newcomers.

The ACL is part of a network of institutional partnerships in Luxembourg and a network of international partners: it is a member of the FIA; a partner of ARC Europe, the largest provider of roadside assistance services in Europe with a network spanning more than 40 European countries; and a partner of European and global automobile clubs.

To provide the best possible assistance to “newcomers to Luxembourg,” and in addition to its traditional 24/7 roadside assistance, the ACL operates a helpdesk dedicated to newcomers that offers the following services:

Mobility support in Luxembourg and internationally

• Registering your car in Luxembourg
• Advice and technical inspections (e.g., when buying or selling a used car)
• Traffic and roadwork information
• Legal information on all mobility-related issues
• 24/7 home assistance (locksmith, plumber, heating technician, electrician)
• Car rentals at discounted rates for members in Luxembourg and worldwide
• Issuance of international driver’s licenses, highway toll stickers, etc.

Travel assistance and insurance

• Worldwide travel health insurance at preferential rates for members and their entire families (daily and annual rates)
• Baggage and trip cancellation insurance
• Travel planning advice and tourist information (free maps for members)
• International toll stickers and badges for toll roads and environmental compliance, emergency contact forms
• Exclusive day trips to (re)discover Luxembourg and its surroundings
• Exclusive trips to destinations around the world.

Secondhand Market for Car Seats and Booster Seats

Need a nearly new infant car seat or a booster seat to safely seat your child in your car? The Automobile Club de Luxembourg regularly organizes a sale of used child car seats and specifically adapted restraint systems.

This sale offers an opportunity to purchase safe equipment at discounted prices. The ACL takes great care to ensure that the infant car seats and booster seats offered are clean, in good condition, and, above all, comply with current safety standards.

Several hundred seats in various categories are offered at net prices. The Automobile Club acts as a free intermediary for the sale and does not take any commission on sales. Additionally, only cash payments are accepted.

In addition, parents can obtain further information about the various child safety systems and road safety standards from ACL staff .

The ACL regularly tests child car seats, as well as crates for transporting dogs in your car. You can find the results of these tests on the ACL website.
