Migration Festival: Celebrate Luxembourg’s Diversity

For more than four decades, Luxembourg has celebrated its rich cultural mosaic every year. The Festival of Migration, Cultures, and Citizenship is a flagship event organized by the CLAE (Liaison Committee of Foreigners’ Associations).

The next edition will take place in March 2027 at LuxExpo The Box Luxembourg. Dates are still to be confirmed.

Residents and newcomers will once again have a unique opportunity to discover and celebrate the cultural diversity that enriches the Grand Duchy.

Indeed, every organization working to promote Luxembourg’s cultural and political life will showcase its achievements and its commitment to a more just social life and a future built on solidarity.

A Must-See Event for Newcomers

For expats and new residents, the Festival of Migration is much more than just a cultural event. Organized by the CLAE, the agency responsible for the integration of newcomers, the Festival of Migration, Culture, and Citizenship is a gateway to the many facets of Luxembourgish society. It is one of the must-see events in Luxembourg.

Newcomers and long-time expatriates in Luxembourg are also invited to discover the traditions, arts, and cuisines of the more than 170 nationalities represented in Luxembourg, all living together in harmony. Participating in this festival means understanding Luxembourg’s social dynamics, building connections, and feeling like an integral part of this multicultural community.

A Rich and Varied Program

The Festival of Migration offers a multitude of activities spread over two days, reflecting Luxembourg’s cultural richness.

The entire program highlights the multiculturalism of Luxembourg’s residents through various workshops and presentations. At the Festival of Migration, Cultures, and Citizenship, visitors can participate in numerous festive and friendly activities: entertainment , stage performances, master classes, conferences, roundtables, as well as cultural and artistic activities, concerts…

Community and Food Stalls

More than 400 booths are on site, representing various cultural associations, NGOs, and institutions working toward a more inclusive society. Visitors can sample culinary specialties from around the world, discover unique handicrafts, and interact with representatives from different communities. This allows them to better understand the diverse cultures present in Luxembourg.

In the various halls, visitors can participate in a Japanese calligraphy workshop, a painting workshop, a film screening and discussion, as well as many other fun and creative activities.

The Festival Village: A Space for Meetings and Debates

At the heart of the festival lies the “Festival Village,” a space dedicated to public debates, events, and interactive workshops. Supported by various public and private organizations, this venue fosters discussions on current events, integration issues, and contemporary societal challenges. Visitors are encouraged to actively participate in roundtables and conferences, thereby contributing to a collective reflection on citizenship and living together.

This year, the Young Makers Space, run by several organizations, will offer young people a variety of creative, exploratory, and experimental activities.

CLAE Pop-up Residency: An Innovative Artistic Experience

For the past three years, the CLAE has been offering temporary artist residencies on the CFL footbridge in the Gare district. Visitors can discover interactive artworks there using the Artivive app, which offers an augmented reality experience. This initiative highlights often-overlooked narratives and invites the public to take a fresh look at stories invisible to the naked eye.

Luxembourg Book and Culture Fair

The Festival des Migrations also hosts the Book and Culture Fair. For 25 years, this fair has brought together nearly 150 booths from bookstores, publishers, and literary associations. Around a hundred writers from diverse backgrounds will be present for book signings and meet-and-greets, offering visitors the opportunity to discover new works and interact with their favorite authors.

ARTSmanif: A Meeting of Cultures and Contemporary Arts

The Migration Fair is also the ARTSmanif Fair, a venue for the convergence of cultures and contemporary arts. This platform showcases emerging and established artists from Luxembourg and beyond.

Visitors will be able to admire exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, photographs, and other forms of artistic expression. All these works once again reflect the diversity and creativity of the cultures represented. Discover a variety of talents and the multicultural influences that enrich the local art scene.
