Every year, Relay for Life is an extremely emotional event. It takes place at La Coque in Luxembourg for a poignant 24-hour relay.
Centre National Sportif et Culturel d'Coque, 2 Rue Léon Hengen L- 1745 LuxembourgEvery year in March, Luxembourg comes together for a major charity event: the Relay for Life. Organized by the Cancer Foundation, this event symbolizes solidarity with cancer patients and their loved ones. Each year, thousands of walkers and runners take turns in teams for 24 hours on the Coque track in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.
The 23rd edition of the Relay for Life will take place in March 2027, offering everyone the opportunity to unite against this disease.
We will keep you informed of the exact dates.
The Relay for Life is much more than just a race; it is a demonstration of unwavering support for those fighting cancer. For 24 hours, teams of walkers and runners take turns on the track at the Centre Sportif de la Coque, symbolizing the relentless struggle of patients and their families against the disease. 15,000 people participated in the last edition of the Relay for Life in Luxembourg!
During this event, the relay participants bring a note of hope through their unwavering commitment. By demonstrating this outpouring of solidarity for cancer patients and their loved ones, the Relay for Life helps restore their strength and courage.
This ongoing commitment, even in the middle of the night, is a source of hope and courage for everyone affected by cancer, whether directly or indirectly: patients, families, and friends.
Registration for the 2027 Relay for Life will open in October 2026. Teams wishing to participate in person at La Coque should register quickly, as spots are limited. To participate in the Relay for Life, you must form teams of between 24 and 48 people. Teams can register in one of the following categories: organizations, schools (high schools, universities, etc.), businesses and institutions, countries, healthcare professionals, or supporters (families, friends, etc.). La Coque can accommodate 300 teams.
Relay runners can participate by walking or running on the Coque track, organizing their time slots as they wish. Each participant may be alone on the track or accompanied by members of other teams. No spots left? You can participate remotely. In fact, there is no limit on the number of participants for those joining online. Everyone can participate from wherever they choose. In this case, teams can have as many members as they want. These members must also take turns for a total of 24 hours. They can walk, run, and even swim wherever they want.
In total, 500 teams participated in La Coque in person and virtually in 2025. Participants raise funds to support cancer research. In 2025, over 1,180,000 euros were raised to fight cancer. A record! Congratulations to all participants and generous donors, who are growing in number and commitment every year!
The 2026 figures are not yet available.
The Relay for Life in Luxembourg is punctuated by iconic moments that reinforce the spirit of community and support:
Opening Ceremony: It begins with a lap of honor by the “Survivors” accompanied by their “Caregivers,” symbolizing resilience and mutual support. This moving moment is followed by the official launch of the relay by the teams.
Candlelight Ceremony: This ceremony is a moment of deep reflection. It pays tribute to those who have lost their battle with cancer and celebrates the strength of those who continue to fight. A minute of silence is observed, and a symbolic message formed from candles arranged on the ground is unveiled. This deeply moving ceremony carries a powerful message of hope and love.
Side Activities: Throughout the weekend, various activities are offered. Participants can join creative workshops and visit information booths on cancer prevention and screening. Activities are planned for children, and relaxation areas are available for participants.
