LGBTQIA+ rights in Luxembourg

As in many European countries, the LGBTQIA+ community is recognized in Luxembourg. In fact, homosexual, bisexual and transgender people benefit from a number of rights.

According to the latest Rainbow Europe 2023 index, Luxembourg ranked 7th.

Homosexuality has been recognized in Luxembourg since 1974, and same-sex marriage authorized since 2014. Xavier Bettel, Prime Minister from 2013 to 2023, became the first European Prime Minister to marry his partner in 2015. The right to adopt was adopted in 2015. Lesbian women have access to PMA.

Today, all discrimination is prohibited in Luxembourg, including on the grounds of sexual orientation, in the various areas of daily life: employment, health, social security, education, access to goods and services, etc.

The Cigale LGBTIQ+ center, set up by the Ministry of Family and Integration, welcomes and advises anyone seeking information or support on issues relating to gender identity or sexual orientation.

The Rosa Lëtzebuerg association actively supports LGBTIQIA+ people in Luxembourg.
