Lycée de Garçons LGL high school

The Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg or LGL is one of the most renowned high schools in Luxembourg’s secondary education.

Formerly “École industrielle” created in 1892, the future Lycée de Garçons de Luxembourg (1945) elects home in 1905 in the current building located in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg. Students call it the “Harry Potter High School” given its architecture dating back to the early 20th century.

From 7th and 6th grade, pupils are introduced to new technologies and can choose in grades 7 to 5 music and ALLET (German as a foreign language) options, for students with difficulties in German when leaving fundamental schools.

In 3rd, 2nd and 1st grades, students have several section choices:

  • Section A: Modern languages
  • Section B: Mathematics – Computer Science
  • Section C: Natural Sciences – Mathematics
  • Section D: Economics – Mathematics
  • Section E: Plastic arts
  • Section G: Human and Social Sciences

Among the activities proposed to the students: theater and a communication-based school project.

The LGL welcomes more than 1,100 students each year.
