Conservatory of the City of Luxembourg

Created in 1906 thanks to a private donation, the Conservatoire de la Ville de Luxembourg is located in the district of Merl since 1984 and has a prestigious auditorium of more than 600 places whose acoustics has already attracted many artists including Mstislav Rostropovitch. The Conservatoire is a school of approximately 3000 students aged 7 to 25 and 140 teachers in all theoretical and practical disciplines.

For the little ones, an introduction to music is possible from 3 years old. Ballet from 7 years old.

The conservatory offers courses in many musical disciplines, including jazz, instrument types, dance, singing, but also diction and acting classes in German and French, improvisation, body expression, staging, breathing and theatre history classes.

Registration requests take place during the first fortnight of September and the actual entries are made according to the places available in the different subjects requested. Qualifying exams may be requested. The conservatory welcomes not only Luxembourg residents but also non-residents.

All information about the classes is available on the website from May.

The programming is put online monthly.

The conservatory museum presents music archives and ancient musical instruments, including the piano on which Franz Liszt performed his last concert in 1886.

The music conservatoire of Esch-sur-Alzette and the conservatoire du Nord, offer the same kind of teaching and services.
