Ambiance of the Neudorf and Weimershof districts
The Neudorf part of the city is not very popular, except for its inhabitants. Its very stretched configuration, in the hollow of a steep valley, does not allow the opportunity of a real neighborhood life. Neudorf is primarily a gateway to the city, located between the Clausen and theFindel airport area.
The Neudorf district dates from the end of the 18th century, with the settlement of inhabitants expropriated to allow the construction of the fortress. The district developed mainly in the second half of the 19th century with the construction of the Funck-Schamberger brewery, which was in operation until 1982. Here you can find single-family houses from 1880 and 1930-50, as well as more recent buildings. The old houses are gradually being destroyed to make way for modern buildings.
The site of the former Henri Funck brewery is now transformed into shops and housing.
Important companies were previously located in Neudorf. The Italian company Ferrero has moved to the immediate vicinity of the Findel airport. Deloitte has relocated to the newer Cloche d’Or neighborhood in Gasperich.
While Neudorf is located in the valley, the residential area of Weimershof is located higher up on the Kirchberg Plateau. Real estate prices are also higher than in the more popular Neudorf district.

2 Veloh! stations are available to the residents of the neighborhood.
A large-scale project involves the construction of a suspension bridge over the valley between the Kirchberg plateau and the Cents district. This beautiful 200 meter long bridge will start at Rue des Bleuets in Weimershof and will allow pedestrians and cyclists to quickly reach the other side of the city. An elevator will connect the footbridge to the Neudorf district. This structure is expected to be completed by 2025.
Schools: In the district of Neudorf there is a basic school, a municipal crèche and the Petits Lions crèche for the youngest children. The private school Sainte Sophie is both a French and a Luxembourg school and is located in the district of Weimershof.
The Kirchberg Hospitals and the Bohler Clinic are easily reachable by car.

Living in the Neudorf- Weimershof area
Neudorf-Weimershof presents 2 quite different atmospheres between the upper and the lower part. Neudorf has a more popular aspect, it is a place of passage not very favourable to family walks. Weimershof appears calmer, and more chic. Both parts are residential areas, unfortunately with few shops.
The historic houses of the Neudorf are gradually being renovated and transformed to accommodate a new, younger population.
