Ambiance of the Neudorf and Weimershof districts
The Neudorf part of Luxembourg is a district that is not very frequented, except by its inhabitants. It is especially a place of passage to the city, located between the Clausen and theFindel airport area. Its configuration, very stretched out in a deep valley, does not allow a life of district strictly speaking.
The Neudorf district dates from the end of the 18th century, with the settlement of inhabitants expropriated for the construction of the fortress. The district developed mainly in the second half of the 19th century with the construction of the Funck-Schamberger brewery, which was in operation until 1982. Here you can find single-family houses from 1880 and 1930-50, as well as more recent buildings.
The site of the former Henri Funck brewery is now transformed into shops and housing.
Important companies were located there, such as Ferrero before it moved to the Findel, or Deloitte, which has now relocated to the Gasperichdistrict.
The residential district of Weimershof is located more on the Kirchberg Plateau, while Neudorf is located in the valley. In Weimershof there are larger, more recent houses. Real estate prices are also higher than in the Neudorf district.
