A child with a life-threatening medical condition rarely gets to just be a kid. There may be many visits to doctors, hospitals, sometimes several surgeries and often there are limitations placed on what the child can do.
"At Make-A-Wish" - explains Lisa Watkins of Make-A-Wish Luxembourg - " we are proud to bring hope, strength and joy to these children when they need it most by granting them their greatest wish. Typically children make wishes in four categories: To Be: a fire-fighter, a policeman… To Meet: a favorite celebrity or athlete… To Have: a computer, a playhouse, a puppy… OR To Go:to a theme park or a major sporting event…"
Since 2013, Make-A-Wish Luxembourg has been able to grant nearly 20 wishes for local children between the ages of 3 and 18 with life-threatening medical conditions. Their goal, as they enter their fifth year, is to grant wishes to all children in Luxembourg diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. "Our success - continues Lisa - is dependent on support from public donations, corporate sponsorships, our relationships in the Luxembourg medical community and our many volunteers."
